Astros Sweep Diamondbacks 4-3: Walker's 9th-Inning Hit Seals Victory

PHOENIX — Christian Walker singled home the go-ahead run in the ninth inning as the Houston Astros defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-3 on Wednesday, completing a three-game sweep.

Zack Short and Taylor Trammell led off the ninth inning with bunt singles against Kevin Ginkel. After one out, Walker, a former Diamondback, hit a grounder up the middle to score Short.

Josh Hader closed out the ninth inning to earn his 27th save. The Astros have now won four consecutive games and extended their lead in the AL West to six games.

Trailing 3-1 heading into the eighth inning, Arizona mounted a comeback. Geraldo Perdomo led off with a double off reliever Bennett Sousa. Houston extended their lead to 3-1 in the eighth inning when Diaz doubled off Trevor Richards to lead off and later scored on Mauricio Dubón’s single.

Geraldo Perdomo had an outstanding offensive night for Arizona, going 4 for 4.
