The Milwaukee Brewers secured a 3-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves as Isaac Collins delivered a pivotal three-run homer and Quinn Priester dominated on the mound Monday night at Truist Park.
Quinn Priester impressed for Milwaukee, allowing just two hits over seven innings after giving up a leadoff home run. He struck out four, walked two, and improved his season record to 11-2. The Brewers bolstered their status atop the majors with a league-leading 68-44 record.
The Braves struck early when Jurickson Profar launched Priester’s first pitch of the game over the right-field wall for his fourth home run of the year. However, Milwaukee answered in the fourth inning as Isaac Collins, recently named NL rookie of the month, smashed a three-run shot to right, putting the Brewers on top for good.
Atlanta’s Erick Fedde, making his first home start for the Braves, went 5 1/3 innings and allowed three runs, taking the loss to drop to 3-12 on the season. Aaron Bummer provided relief in the seventh, delivering the Braves’ first strikeout of the contest.
On the Brewers’ side, All-Star closer Trevor Megill notched his 25th save of the season by retiring the Braves in order in the ninth inning.
Joey Ortiz delivered a key defensive play in the eighth inning with runners on the corners, snagging a hard line drive for the second out and helping reliever Abner Uribe escape the jam while keeping Milwaukee in front.
Ozzie Albies saw his five-game hitting streak come to an end as the Braves managed just three hits overall and stranded six runners on base throughout the game.
The series continues Tuesday with Brewers right-hander Freddy Peralta (12-5, 3.03 ERA) scheduled to take the mound. The Braves are expected to start lefty Joey Wentz (2-2, 5.02 ERA) in search of a bounce-back performance at home.
The Milwaukee Brewers claimed a 3-1 win over the Atlanta Braves thanks to Isaac Collins’ crucial three-run homer and a standout seven-inning effort from Quinn Priester. Despite an early homer by Atlanta’s Jurickson Profar, the Braves’ offense struggled, recording only three hits and leaving six runners stranded. The victory strengthens Milwaukee’s grip on the best record in MLB, while the Braves will look to even the series in the next matchup. This game highlighted strong pitching, timely defense, and a key long ball that defined the result.
