ST. LOUIS — Miles Mikolas delivered a strong performance, pitching two-hit ball into the sixth inning to lead the St. Louis Cardinals to an 8-1 victory over the Washington Nationals on Thursday night.
The win secured the series rubber game for St. Louis.
Willson Contreras contributed with a home run, while Alec Burleson drove in two runs. Brendan Donovan also had a productive night, collecting two hits, scoring twice, and adding an RBI.
The Cardinals offense provided ample support for their pitching staff throughout the game.
Miles Mikolas (5-6) was effective, striking out six batters and walking just one over 5 2/3 innings. This outing marked his first win since May 23rd.
Washington's only run came in the eighth inning on a fielder's choice driven in by Jacob Young.
