The Philadelphia Phillies delivered an explosive performance at home, defeating the Seattle Mariners 12-7 in a thrilling MLB matchup. Trea Turner propelled the Phillies’ offense with four hits, including his first home run at Citizens Bank Park for the season, and collected five RBI. Bryce Harper added even more fireworks with two home runs, marking a significant milestone in his career.
Turner’s bat was hot early, launching a three-run homer off Mariners’ starter Logan Gilbert during a six-run second inning for Philadelphia. With two singles and a double on top of the homer, Turner notched his fifth consecutive multi-hit game. Harper, meanwhile, fired solo and two-run homers in consecutive innings, reaching 20 home runs in a season for the 11th time and registering his 30th career multi-homer game.
J.T. Realmuto powered up with three hits, including a home run, while Kyle Schwarber, Max Kepler, and Bryson Stott contributed RBI singles. The Phillies’ offense was relentless, racking up a total of 21 hits in the game.
Mitch Garver and Cole Young supplied much of Seattle’s offense. Both homered, with Garver adding an RBI single and Young finishing with four RBI. Despite their efforts, starter Logan Gilbert struggled, lasting only two innings and giving up six runs on nine hits. The Mariners have now dropped three straight and five of their last six games.
Ranger Suárez starred on the mound for Philadelphia, tying his career high with 10 strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings while conceding just two runs on four hits to earn his ninth win of the season.
After a four-run rally by Seattle in the seventh inning cut the Phillies’ lead to three, Philadelphia answered immediately with a four-run surge of their own, punctuated by Harper’s second home run of the evening.
Trea Turner’s home run was also a landmark achievement, as it marked the 1,500th hit of his MLB career.
The series continues as Mariners RHP Bryce Miller (2-5, 5.73 ERA) faces off against Phillies LHP Cristopher Sanchez (11-4, 2.45 ERA) in the next game.
The Philadelphia Phillies’ dominant home victory over the Seattle Mariners featured offensive fireworks from Trea Turner and Bryce Harper, along with a career milestone for Turner. With 21 hits and strong pitching from Ranger Suárez, the Phillies demonstrated their depth and power, while the Mariners continue searching for answers amidst a tough stretch.
