The Cubs tied the score in the bottom of the ninth inning when Darwin Barney launched a two-run homer with two outs, spoiling Chris Carpenter's season debut. The game then went into extra innings, where David DeJesus delivered a game-ending single in the eleventh to secure the victory for Chicago.
